As a filmmaker, Kendall brings his strength as an educator to this role by giving clear, creative and effective instruction to his cast and crew. With expertise in directing, screenwriting, production design, and editing, he brings an array of professional experience and a multi disciplined perspective to a project. Kendall enjoys varied projects, whether it’s developing original independent media or working with a corporate client. While all of the aspects of filmmaking are important, he understands that the story lies at the heart of the product and that collaboration is necessary to bring it to life.
In 2004, Dave Kendall worked as production designer for the feature film Pearl Diver, which garnered a Heartland Film Festival Crystal Heart Award. With his love of storytelling, in 2005 Kendall became a co-founder of Bitesize Shorts. Bitesize Shorts created short comedic films for film festivals and independent distribution. Later that year, Kendall wrote and directed a comedic short film entitled Corduroy, which enjoyed success in several film festivals including Chicago’s Midwest Independent Film Festival.
In 2006, Nathan Hope & Vince Palomino (CSI) hired Kendall to direct the Behind-The-Scenes Editorial for their feature film thriller, Elsewhere. This gave Kendall a unique opportunity to work with Jon Gries (Napoleon Dynamite), Oscar nominated actress Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air, Pitch Perfect), Tania Raymonde (Lost), and Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries).
Kendall received the Educator's Scholorship to Savannah College of Art and Design (2008) and recieved a Masters of Fine Art Degree in Film & Television/Directing (2010). During his time at SCAD he had the privilege of studying under renowned industry veterans, producer, Andrew Meyer (The Brekfast Club, Home Alone), filmmaker, Amy Lerner-Maddox (New Line Cinema), sound designer, Peter Damski (Will & Grace, Mad About You) and writer, Chris Auer (The Cosby Show).
Kendall works for Kendall Pictures, LLC with partners Carrie Lee Bland-Kendall and Stephen Withers.
